These terms govern use of marinegrib.com and the MarineGrib console. By joining, signing in, or using the free coastal watch, you agree to them. English is the controlling language. Governing law is England and Wales. Last updated 17 September 2026.

1. The service

MarineGrib packs marine weather — wind, swell, pressure, sea-surface temperature, currents, and related overlays — into a small GRIB suitable for a cockpit or a satellite link. Isochrone routing, gale and steepness alarms, and departure windows are decision-support tools. They are not a voyage plan, not an official forecast, and not a substitute for Notices to Mariners, COLREGs, or the skipper’s duty of care.

2. Who may use it

You must be 18 or over. You are responsible for the account, the password, and anyone you add under a Crew plan. Do not share a login on a public plotter if you want Pro bound to one skipper.

3. Plans and prices

Coastal GFS out to 48 hours, inside about 12 nautical miles of a harbour station, stays free, with a pack-size cap. Paid plans, billed in GBP by Square, are:

• Pro — £19.99 per month: basin GRIB, ECMWF overlay, 15-day fields, satellite packs under 50 KB, routing, ship traffic, currents, tides, and wave decomposition.
• Annual — £149 per year (~£12.40/mo): the same Pro watch on one skipper, billed once.
• Crew — £49 per month: Pro for a boat with more than one watchkeeper on the same account.

4. Joining and paying

Join with email or a supported OAuth provider. Paid features stay gated until Square confirms the payment and you return to the console. Opening a Square Payment Link leaves our site; Square’s terms apply to the card transaction. Displayed foreign-currency figures are a conversion of the GBP charge for convenience. The amount Square takes is the GBP price.

5. Renewal, cancel, refund

Pro, Annual, and Crew renew through Square until you cancel the subscription in Square or write to us at [email protected]. Cancel takes effect at the end of the paid period; we do not claw back unused days except where UK/EU consumer law requires it. Digital content that has been fully delivered (a GRIB already packed and used) may fall outside a cooling-off refund. If a charge fails, we may drop the account back to the free coastal watch.

6. Weather, routing, and safety

GFS, ECMWF, tides, and currents are model guidance. Models miss squalls, local orographic wind, and wave-current interaction. Routing assumes a simple polar and the loaded pack — it does not know your reefing, fuel, or a closed harbour. You remain solely responsible for navigation, heavy-weather tactics, and whether to leave. Do not use MarineGrib as the only source for a passage.

7. Acceptable use

Do not scrape, bulk-harvest, or resell packed GRIB. Do not probe the API beyond a normal watch, attempt to bypass the paywall, or use the service to send malware. We may rate-limit, suspend, or close an account that threatens the pack pipeline or other skippers’ bandwidth.

8. Intellectual property

The console, compression, and MarineGrib mark are ours. Forecast model fields remain the relevant meteorological centres’. You may keep downloaded packs for your own navigation. You may not republish the product as a competing weather service.

9. Availability

We aim to keep the watch up, including a Cloudflare Pages deploy, but satellite links, model outages, and rate limits happen. Offline cache is the fallback. We are not liable for a missed window because a pack did not land.

10. Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MarineGrib is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that a wind, swell, or pressure field is accurate at your position. The traffic overlay is a shipping-lane model for lookout context, not a live AIS receiver and not for collision avoidance. We are not liable for loss of the vessel, injury, delay, missed landfall, or lost profits arising from use of the console or a GRIB pack. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be limited under English law. For consumers in the UK/EU, statutory rights remain.

11. Changes

We may update these terms, the Privacy Policy, or the Cookies Policy. The date at the top is the effective date. Continued use after a posted change is acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the service and cancel Square.

12. Contact and disputes

Write to [email protected]. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction, except that a consumer may also bring a claim in their country of residence where that right cannot be waived.
